Rain On Your Parade Review

So now I have played more of the game then my initial first impressions, has my opinion change or do i feel the same? Let's dive in.

For those who did not see my post, you play as a cloud, and with powers you get through the game you ruin many peoples days. From campers, to office workers, and more. You are placed in a level, given goals, and rewarded with stars and cosmetics for doing so. For example the first level has you raining on a wedding, not only do you need to soak everyone but you also need to turn over the chairs. Some goals are mandatory and some are not.

This games presentation is fantastic, the warm and welcoming arts and crafts look. Making the world and environments look like arts and crafts or straight out of a pop up book, the simple approach is loaded with charm and looks great. The music is fun, and the game looks, and runs great. The writing on the other hand is a mixed bag, some of it is witty and then some of it depends so much on memes and references. There are so many jokes that depended on memes or the current state of gaming and this game will definitely be considered a product of its time. Some missions try to parody shows and movies and they are fine but I found myself wishing for a little bit more originality.

The gameplay is fun, you get a nice variety of moves throughout the story. There are tons of missions both involved in the story, optional, and some with new goals with new game plus. I enjoyed this game but I felt like it dragged on as I kept going, even with new powers I received it felt like it was just more of the same. Ruin someone's day, change environment and repeat, even when the location changes the game is all the same. Sometimes you rack up points, most times you just cause havoc until you fulfill certain objectives and then you move on. With so many missions the game felt like it dragged halfway through and even with the new powers such as snow or creating a tornado I felt like I was doing the same thing.

Overall I enjoyed this game at best in short bursts, this game is best on sale, there is some fun to be had but it also feels a lot of the same throughout. The environment changes, but the jokes and gameplay felt like they all blended together. This game is a fun little puzzle game that is best enjoyed on sale, with a few elements holding it back, namely being a tad too long and relying so much on memes and parody. If there was one reference it would stand out, but there were so many so they all felt like they were on repeat after a while. I found myself not aiming for the cosmetics or hanging around after a while and was just trying to finish the game, the missions were short but there were so many, well over thirty that felt like a repeat from time to time. If you want a cute puzzle game with a great sense of fun , get Untitled Goose Game, but if you have that game, get this game if you like that one but wait for a sale and do not try to play all of this game in one sitting.

( Fun, charming, good music and style, some writing and similar gameplay that drags on holds it back, great for puzzle game fans, very charming, but flawed. Fun but flawed. )
