Cartoon Network Battle Crashers

What if some of Cartoon Networks biggest modern shows crossed over into a video game, which happened to be a side scrolling beat em up. Not only that but it was multiplayer, with up to four friends could join you on this quest and it was on a ton of consoles both current and last gen. Is this game such a masterpiece that it deserves to be ported to so many systems, or is it at least worth the two dollars and forty nine cents I payed for it? Let's fire up my Nintendo Switch and find out.

The plot of this game unfolds when Uncle Grandpa's Van tears a hole in reality, merging the worlds of his show, Steven Universe, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Clarence and The Adventures Of Gumball. You take control of each of the leads of the shows mentioned in a side scrolling beat em up through two stages and a boss fight from each locale of the shows mentioned. There are two cutscenes and the music is completely forgettable. Each character has a set of skills and moves, and unlock more as you collect EXP throughout the game and up to four people can play, with you swapping between all of the characters during single player. So where did this game go wrong?

The gameplay, this game is tedious and boring, everything feels the same no matter who you are and there are so few enemy types that you will see them all in the first two worlds, and there is one world with two levels and boss for each show represented here. Each stage drags way longer then it needs to, and not only that but there are specific items that are needed so you have to backtrack through the entire stage, sometimes more then one stage you have been through in its entirety for an item to progress. The enemies are no problem, nor are the bosses making this game dull and repetitive. And even though the environments look nice, the repeating enemies, and backtracking, with no fun sound design made this game a dull stroll for me. I got so bored that I beat two worlds and put the game down and could not be bothered to go back, there is so literally variety and the variety that is there is unnoticeable. Not to mention the back tracking for items, long stages, and repetitive gameplay made this a chore instead of a game. Each character basically plays the same, and some of the attacks are a chore to use that make certain characters a better pick then others, but each one has a special skill and different stats that don't really feel like they make that much of a difference .Not to mention I ran into glitches that locked me out of a stage at the very end which meant that I had to play through the boring and long stage more times then needed and that is without the back tracking.

This is one of the worst licensed games I played in years with ho hum presentation, and extremely boring gameplay. The shows are barely represented here beside their environments and few side characters here and there, there is no voice acting, the music is dull, and when the gameplay was just defeating wave after wave of enemy over and over, I got bored quick. This is not even for fans of these shows or to play with friends for a quick laugh, this game is a snooze and not worth anyone's time.

(Everything that could go wrong went wrong, the graphics are nice and the only saving grace)
