Golf With Friends

Over the past weekend at the time of this post, Golf With Friends was free on Steam, and is now on sale at the time of this post. I had already purchased the game on a previous sale but have only played it now. So was I better off waiting and playing this game for free for a short weekend? Or was this worth the money? Let's dive in and find out, this will mostly be my thoughts rather then a review as I have played this game a grand total of once but played a ton of courses with friends and wanted to share.

This game takes mini golf to the extreme, whether single player, or online with friends. With a myriad of courses and options to make your own, all tied in with simple controls and a charming aesthetic. This game is controlled simply but clicking, dragging your mouse and releasing. There are a couple power ups to use, and a menu but the controls are simple and very easy to learn. The game's music was ho hum but the presentation is spot on, a ton of fun detail went into the environments and made them stand out, a mini golf course to the extreme. There are other modes to play with friends as well but I stuck to golf.

The game ran well but there were some moments of lag and friends dropping out of the game. Overall when the game worked, setting up matches and playing with friends was a blast. Everyone goes at the same time and that makes rounds not overstay their welcome. The items and course hazards added a great layer of memorability and chaos. It was a blast with friends. Some holes are better designed then others, and some of the par requirements and obstacles on holes are not as well thought out as others. Some holes are great ideas but not well executed but make for a fun time with friends. There were also some lag and glitch issues that should be noted but add to the hilarity at times.

So as the title implies this game is best played with friends. So if you have a solid friend group who is interested give it a try, especially while the game is on sale. It could be a fun game to play with friends and it is on console and steam, I do not know if it is cross platform. But it does make for a fun couple of hours with friends. I toughly enjoyed my time but as the title implies this game is best shared with company online or in person, and could a be a great game to spice up game night with friends in a rotation.
