Celeste Is A Great Game

This time of year in most places snow has begun falling or will be falling soon. So on top of the indie games I will be covering, I may cover some that fit with this season. This game has beauitful snowy mountain, a wonderful story, a sweeping score, and is one of the best indie games I have ever played.

The story is so great I will not even give a plot synopsis but rather just say why I love it, this is a narrative that needs to be experience firsthand and if possible with little to no knowledge of the plot. This story is an incredibly real and well written narrative that is relatable and full of charm. The graphics are wonderful and the music is great, the atmosphere in this game is second to none. Each landscape is fantastically made and the sprite work in this game is amazing.

So with the amazing look, and fantastic story, what about the gameplay? It is a platformer that is incredibly challenging but is so balanced and fair that it encourages continuing rather than rage quits. Each game saves you on the screen you are one and therefore you are never losing ground, and with infinite lives, the game may have tough levels but it meets you where you are. The game controls great and each level is well designed, with level specific obstacles and abilities, giving the game tons of variety. The features of infinite lives and a checkpoint on each screen give the game a very calm feeling even if there is a huge obstacle in front of the player. The narrative is so engaging that I found myself wanting to push forward and beat each room to see what happened next. Each room is not impossible, and is in a way a puzzle to solve, and when the solution is found it is incredibly satisfying.

The game also has plenty of optional collectibles, there was free DLC added, and there are plenty of secrets to find. Just like the mountain the game is named after there is plenty of find and more things to do even after the credits roll. With the amount of content in the game, the beautiful narrative, and amazing atmosphere this game is an experience that is worth its initial asking price. But if you happen to get this game on sale, it is a steal and worth every second of your time and every penny. This game is worth it at base price for platformer fans who love a good narrative. There are also great forms of representation in this game for the LGBT+ community and that is just a strawberry on the already super sweet treat that is this game.

A wonderful narrative, fantastic gameplay, secrets to find, and so much more. This game is worth at least one trip up the mountain especially for platformer fans but you just might find yourself like me going again and again. This game is nothing short of amazing and I can never recommend it enough, with relatable characters and so much charm, wrapped into a challenging platformer that is gratifying to conquer. That never insults the player but rather encourages and gives many reasons to keep on climbing.
