Indie Game Holiday Buyers Guide (Vol. 2)

 As the Winter sales approach or you may find yourself receiving a gift card or some holiday spending money, I decided to find even more Indie games to recommend. Some of these are a tad more recent, while some just might be on sale for a great price. Here in no particular order are some great games that would make a great gift to someone else or yourself... again!

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon

Puzzle and rouge like fans unite. The shovel wielding hero returns in an amazing puzzle game. The graphics and music are fantastic, and there are tons of accessibility options. You can make the game as lenient or challenging as you would like, filled with wonderful characters both familiar and new. This game may be new, but it is a fantastic time, especially for fans of Shovel Knight. This was a great holiday present. 

Mighty Gunvolt Burst

Fans of Mega Man may be wary of the name Mighty NO. 9 but this is different. A retro style, arcade game that is a fantastic time. Great music and fun graphics with a fun score-based system and tons of playable characters, some as DLC. This game is tons of fun for fans of retro games and want something that is great in long sittings or short BURSTS.

Untitled Goose Game

What else can be said other then, cause chaos, be the goose. This puzzle game set in a small town is burst with charm that will find new ways to make you laugh every time. Now with co-op even to bring a friend along on your havoc-wreaking quest. Fun style, tons of charm, and lots of honking, with plenty of objectives and different paths to take, this game is a fantastic gift.  

River City Girls

A beat em up for the ages, whether alone or with a friend this game is amazing from start to finish. The style and music give this game a setting and feeling that stands out not only in the genre but as a game. The aesthetic is unforgettable, it controls great, has plenty of content and is full of style. From the amazing and catchy music to the great gameplay that extends even beyond the credits that makes a great single and multiplayer experience, this game is nothing short of great. I have talked about it before and will again, this game is that good for fans of the genre and newcomers alike. 

Ooblets

Are you a fan of Pokémon? Do you like card games that are dance battles? Do you like farming sims with a ton of charm and a fun and cute look? Then this game is for you. This game has a great style and setting, with very fun gameplay. This game has a ton of content to last you plenty of hours while being super relaxing to play. With plenty to do and tons of freedom to do said things, this game is a great way to relax.

The Pokemon Concierge

 When this show was first announced, I was indifferent. And then it came out and I watched the four episodes they had at the time of this post in one sitting and fell in love with it. The hype around this show is very real, I was blown away by how much I loved this show. Only four episodes and I want more, so why do I love this show so much? Well, that's what this blog post is for. The narrative of this show is fun for all ages but definitely has relatable content for adults while also having fun lessons for all ages. I am not going into detail because I think even a synopsis of this show spoils too much and it is so wonderful. The morals are real and down to earth, the characters are likable and the conflicts are relatable. The writing is fun, wholesome, and very well down, and has a good mix of humor and heartwarming with some great ideas. Tell Your Own Story, Do Your Own Thing: One Thing I Learned From Across The Spiderverse

 This will probably not be the last time I talk about the impact of this film, I keep learning from this incredible film. The visuals, humor, story, characters, and messages of the film are just so close to perfect for me. Let's hang on to that last word, messages. Some may feel that an animated film could never contain deeper meanings or ideas. Still, if they looked outside their opinion, they would see animation as what it truly is, a necessary part of cinema. Animation can go places and bring ideas live action never could, and vice versa, they are both important. When this movie was first released, I saw it on opening day, and I was that excited. I love and adore the first film and the sequel just as much, it did not disappoint. I wanted to revisit the second film, since we have had more time with the first movie, and dive into some of the story beats, so spoilers are ahead just as a fair warning.  Across The Spiderverse takes our hero Miles Morales a year and some change ahead
