Donut County (PS4)

 When I was going through my backlog, I found a game that was so charming that I got on sale that was also a puzzle game. So, I thought I would add a bonus post before we wrap up on puzzle game month. When you hear this game's title what do you think? A bakery full of delicious treats, making donuts, or being a racoon controlling holes in the ground and swallowing up everything? Well, if you guessed the final option then you would be correct, let's dive in.

As just mentioned, the plot of this game is wild, and one that is worth going through. This game is about friendship, comedy, and what a donut really is. This game has a fun and comedic plot, and the writing is fantastic. The game does not overstay it's welcome and is about two hours long, but it is a fun time from start to finish. The writing, characters, world, and plot are memorable. The music and graphics are also great, making a fun world to spend some time in. 

The gameplay involves doing one thing, using a hole in the ground and consuming everything, but you need to start small, being able to take bigger items after taking in a bunch of small ones. There are also a couple power ups you will get later, and a few fun mechanics that involve getting a combination of outfits to full down the hole. Every stage is the same at its core, make stuff fall into the hole and make the hole bigger, but the progression and addition of new mechanics, powerups and puzzle types makes the journey varied. The game is not that long therefore it is one mechanic but its super fun, entertaining, and has an enough variety to make the time spent worth it. There are a couple of other sections that lead to a laugh as well that lead up to really fun jokes.

I played this game on PS4 and even decided to platinum it and am currently working on that, I had so much fun with it. This game is on most if not all platforms and definitely worth the asking price for how fun and memorable it is, it also goes on sale often for those who are on a budget. The fun and comedic gameplay, the charming environments, and the hilarious writing this game is a great time. There is not much to say because it is pretty short, but it is fun the entire time. I really enjoyed this game from start to finish and highly recommend it. It may only be a couple hours long, but like a good comedy movie it knows when to wrap up and was worth every second. A puzzle game with fun graphics, charming writing, and simple yet super entertaining gameplay. This game might be a rabbit hole, worth going down.

The Pokemon Concierge

 When this show was first announced, I was indifferent. And then it came out and I watched the four episodes they had at the time of this post in one sitting and fell in love with it. The hype around this show is very real, I was blown away by how much I loved this show. Only four episodes and I want more, so why do I love this show so much? Well, that's what this blog post is for. The narrative of this show is fun for all ages but definitely has relatable content for adults while also having fun lessons for all ages. I am not going into detail because I think even a synopsis of this show spoils too much and it is so wonderful. The morals are real and down to earth, the characters are likable and the conflicts are relatable. The writing is fun, wholesome, and very well down, and has a good mix of humor and heartwarming with some great ideas. Tell Your Own Story, Do Your Own Thing: One Thing I Learned From Across The Spiderverse

 This will probably not be the last time I talk about the impact of this film, I keep learning from this incredible film. The visuals, humor, story, characters, and messages of the film are just so close to perfect for me. Let's hang on to that last word, messages. Some may feel that an animated film could never contain deeper meanings or ideas. Still, if they looked outside their opinion, they would see animation as what it truly is, a necessary part of cinema. Animation can go places and bring ideas live action never could, and vice versa, they are both important. When this movie was first released, I saw it on opening day, and I was that excited. I love and adore the first film and the sequel just as much, it did not disappoint.
