Kirby And The Forgotten Land Review(Spoiler Free)

This review is going to be very open ended as the game I am covering has not even been out for a week at the time of this post. That being said this game is amazing. I covered the demo and now it is time to venture into the Forgotten Land, but first some things to mention before starting. I will not be diving deep into the game but rather sharing my thoughts, I will go into depth at a later date that is not set as of now. I will talk about presentation, and gameplay with as minimal detail as possible, using the trailers shown in Nintendo Directs to go off of. With that all settled, it's time to see if 3D works for the pink puff.

This game is now one of my favorite Kirby games alongside Planet Robobot and SuperStar Ultra. This series works in 3D so well. The cutscenes are all amazing and well presented, the visuals on this game pop in all the right ways and look amazing. The music is also super well made, the level themes, boss music, and all of the songs are in this game fit so well, they are big sweeping songs, befitting of the grand adventure. The presentation in this game looks and sounds amazing, but how does it play.

It also plays amazing! Copy abilities work so well in 3D and there is a good variety of them, and later on the variety is expanded in a really awesome way. They are all fun to use and the further you go in the game it is easy to find a favorite and master it, or experiment with all of them. There are ways that the game invites the player to use all of them in a really cool way to get some of the many collectibles.

The mouthful mode adds to the game as well, it is super well implemented in the stages without distracting from the core gameplay. It adds to the game and leads to a ton of fun gameplay segments in amazing way. For a gameplay element made to stand out, this one does a great job. Much like the power ups these are also expanded and used in some super awesome ways for the game.

Each stage feels like it is a great length. There are a ton of collectibles to find, challenges to fulfill, and enimies to defeat but they are as long or as short as you wish them to be. If you are not liking a stage you can rush through or explore, there are tons of secrets to find and exploring feels so good to do. Everything you collect feels necessary and every level is fun to traverse as well as explore. The game is just plain fun, it is very relaxing and has optional challenges for those who want them. There is so much to do, see and collect in this game, with none of it feeling like a chore.

There are a couple of quality-of-life issues that need a patch and for some this game may be a tad too short, but I think it has plenty to offer, and then some. There is so much that I will go into greater detail about in a future post. but without diving too deep. This game is worth it, it is pure fun and one of the best Kirby games I have ever played. This game has become a new favorite and will be one that I will revisit often. Star Allies the last entry was fun but played it very safe, Forgotten Land is a great step in a new direction that should be experienced. The gameplay, presentation, and music all create a trip through this land that I won't be forgetting any time soon.

Final Thoughts: This game is amazing, minimal flaws, fun to play, tons of variety, great presentation, great gameplay, controls well, uses its mechanics very well.
