5 Beat Em Ups I Want To See In The Style Of Shredders Revenge

Shredder's Revenge is definitely one of my games of the year. It reminds me of why beat em ups are a genre that is fun solo or with friends. Gathering around a couch or online to rack up points, pummel opponents and hopefully not accidently consume too many health items. So, I went down my list of ideas/franchises and in no particular order decided to pitch some beat em ups I would love to see the team behind Shredder's Revenge or another talented crews, could make into more high-quality beat em ups just like that one. So here is my list! Enjoy!

Regular Show

This series not only thrives on being relatable but also connecting to nerdy things like movies, video games and so on. This series has uses retro style games and consoles for the games made in this world, and I just think this would be a match made in heaven. It could have a large cast, great sprite work and music, and be a love letter to classic games and the show. I know there was a 3DS retro platformer that mixed genres based on this show, but this show deserves much better then that.

Power Rangers

First the turtles, and now the rangers. I would personally of course pick the mighty mortphin series as not only does it have a ton of nostalgic value, but it also had some great games in this genre tied to it. This could be a follow up to the movie game much like how Shredders Revenge is a follow up to Turtles In Time, or this could even take place in the Shattered Grid timeline from the comics. That storyline got a fighting game already, why not a beat em up?

Ducktales (2017)

Life is like a hurricane and so is this reboot to the popular Disney Afternoon adventure-based cartoon. The orginal had a platformer, but I think changing genres would be a cool way to stand out. The cast is big to have a cool roaster to pick from, there are plenty of great guests to help out along the way such as Gizmo Duck or Darkwing Duck. There are also tons of villains to add a good variety to the boss line up, leading to what could be a great adventure.

Tiger And Bunny

This superhero anime deserves more recognition, and a video game would be awesome as well. The cast once again is great and with a variety of powers could lead to a fantastic roaster. The world has enough in terms of street level criminals and super powered foes to make the boss and enemy line up never tire out the player, and the world is just neat. A superhero T.V show where they have to compete for points could tie in and make a great factor into gameplay, this one would make me let out a wild roar of hype.

Indie Game Crossover

We have seen Indie characters cross over into cart racers, fighting games, and more. But what if a ton of them crossed over into a beat em up akin to Nicktoons Unite. The plot would tie in characters like Shantae, Shovel Knight, Yooka-Leyle, and more into a world where they have to fight their way out, each world being a foe from the respective world of the roaster. The music and level design could be super hype, and these characters have crossed over in many different genres, why not this one too?

That was my list, what are your dream beat em ups, based on a franchise or original idea. Or perhaps from a different video game franchise that has not tried the genre before. Thank you so much for reading and have a great day!
