Multiversus

A little over a week ago this game became available to the public, though I got in a little early. The highly anticipated fighting, Super Smash Brothers style fighting game starring many of Warner Brothers properties is here. And best of all it is free, so after playing the game alone and with friends I am here to share my thoughts. I will share what I would like to see added in a future post but for now, these are my initial thoughts on Multiversus. Let's dive in!

I think I will start with the negatives because the positives outweigh them in spades. The drip feed of in game currency is very slow, unlocking characters will take a lot of time and dedication, I know this is to encourage using real world money. If you count the battle pass, the costumes, and the other fun add ons then I feel like making it easier to unlock fighters would have been a good compromise. The other problem was some characters were available in early access were then locked and swapped with characters that were nor. This was a confusing predicament if you mained a character that was already unlocked and were now forced to use ones that you did not learn yet. I see why the game was like this so we did not have too many players with characters with max perks right out the gate, but if someone bought a character and maxed them out, then that stayed and when the game was made widely available new players would have to face characters like that. That and there are too many ways to spend money in this game, like real world money, that needed to be toned down as well.

In terms of the good, there is a lot to go over. The presentation is phenomenal, from the stages to the graphics to the voice acting. This game has a ton of style and charm, and it works very well. Speaking of working well the game controls well too. This game is easy to pick up and hard to master, but there are many ways to train and master, giving a good amount of variety. The game controls and works great in both single and multiplayer settings.

As someone who did a fair amount of solo runs and runs with friends, the cross platform element worked great and ran great too. The game runs very well online and the match making is very quick. There is a lot of variety in the cast to play as, meaning its easy to find a favorite or multiple favorites. The characters all stand out and are fun to try as well as find what classes pair well with others when teaming up. The game is fun in short and long bursts, making me hope there is more on the horizon for this game. Flaws aside there is a lot good going for this game. In terms of gameplay not only is it easy to learn but if you have played a Super Smash Brothers game before then it will be beyond easy to fit right in.

This is one of the best free to play games out there, that can only get better with improvement. Presentation, control, and gameplay all work very well with this game. It is super fun with friends and alone, and has a ton to offer. There are a few minor setbacks and the progression even with doing quests is molasses slow but aside from that this is a fun time. Also being free to play means there is plenty to gain and nothing to lose but time. As long as you do not own a switch this game is worth a try and has potential to become even better. The first step would be adding Kite Man just saying..
