Late Night Creative Thoughts

 Whether it is on late-night television hosts, an amusement park attraction or company that is no longer with us, or perhaps every episode of a sitcom from your childhood, the impact of video essays online has been on the rise and now even rivals the relevancy and presence of podcasts. I watch plenty myself, from restaurants to musical history, entertainment, or even perhaps deep diving into a show from my childhood. I do love wandering the beaten path and watching different topics such as food, modern trends, fashion, and such sometimes to perhaps learn something new and talk about something with my friends when the other day a thought struck me, that video essays are now, not replacing, but are on the quality and can stand alongside documentaries as a form of entertainment that also gives you fun facts to share next time you are out to dinner with friends.  Video essays are everywhere and the topics vary from travel to food to one of my personal favorites the giant LCD sphere in  Las

 Parks And Recreation is my comfort show, yes there are dated things in it, things that have not aged well in the nature of race and representation, but there is still value in many aspects of it, and this is one of them. This episode happens to land on Halloween, the holiday that is fast approaching at the time this post is being written. Costumes, pumpkins, and candy are put through this entire episode, the setting of Halloween is the backdrop of this one and appears to tie into the setting a time or two. But under this episode, there is a great theme, some great jokes, and a powerful message. There are four plots in this episode, April missing her husband Andy with Chris trying to help her still enjoy Halloween, Tom grappling with his business woes, Ron's chair being featured on a show by an influencer that he could care less for which also ties in with Tom, and the big central one, Leslie's recall election which ends with her being recalled.  The music of both Spiderverse movies is one of my favorite listens, whether running errands, writing, or even just relaxing. One of my favorite songs from the Into The Spiderverse album is "Invincible" by Amine'. A song that is very relaxing but much like "Self Love" which I have covered here carries more in the lyrics than what is seen at first glance. The song has a mellow feeling to it, being a great song to relax and unwind to, staying at one consistent melody for the entire duration of the song, staying calm and collected. The lyrics and background track work hand in hand, blending perfectly together as this song invokes a feeling of the end of the day, in a perfect and relaxing manner. I often listen to this song as the day is ending or at night, sometimes even on a drive home, especially as the sun is setting, and I pair it with "Self Love". The lyrics of this song dive into race, identity, and even just how one sees oneself and views oneself.
