Invincble (Spider-Man Into The Spiderverse)
The music of both Spiderverse movies is one of my favorite listens, whether running errands, writing, or even just relaxing. One of my favorite songs from the Into The Spiderverse album is "Invincible" by Amine'. A song that is very relaxing but much like "Self Love" which I have covered here carries more in the lyrics than what is seen at first glance.
The song has a mellow feeling to it, being a great song to relax and unwind to, staying at one consistent melody for the entire duration of the song, staying calm and collected. The lyrics and background track work hand in hand, blending perfectly together as this song invokes a feeling of the end of the day, in a perfect and relaxing manner. I often listen to this song as the day is ending or at night, sometimes even on a drive home, especially as the sun is setting, and I pair it with "Self Love".
The lyrics of this song dive into race, identity, and even just how one sees oneself and views oneself. The song explores multiple themes while keeping one central idea, which is feeling power. The song echoes over and over "Stop feeling invisible and start feeling invisible, hate feeling impossible, the hardest thing is believing in your dreams..." This chorus gives the main theme of the song in plain view. The song is not only a super mellow, relaxing song to chill out to, but also a deep introspection.
The song has lyrics that flow so incredibly well, and work with the background track in such a way that it is great for repeat listens. Whether in the album or in a playlist, this song fits just as a song on its own, which is discourse often paired with songs sung or in the background of Disney animated musicals, not superhero movies. But the music is one of the many pieces to the puzzle that make the Spiderverse movies so special.
It shows one's position and how easy it is to feel small, compared to a big challenging world around you, much like how Miles feels in the movie. The film carries themes about identity, worth, and expectations, and this song works with that theme hand in hand. It shows what our lead feels and relays it back to how the audience in a way they can relate to. Coming in the form of a song with a great backing track and lyrics that listeners can relate to, the song transcends being just from a scene from a movie, into a great listen that stands on its own outside of it. Much like many songs from Across The Spiderverse, many songs from Into The Spiderverse lead the way with a one-of-a-kind style that fits into the movie and outside of it.
A song relaying the character on screen, and the audience member watching them, connecting them with a real emotional feeling. A song that talks about wanting to be bigger, even when dreaming does not seem to be on the schedule. A song about wanting to be more, like Miles Morales, and the person watching the movie. This song is worth a listen on its own, to see everything it has to give to the listener. Relatable themes, great lyrics, and wonderful instrumentation make this song not worth looking through, but looking into. Whether for relaxing, driving home at the end of the day, or writing, the themes in this song and the way they connect to the audience are not invisible, but rather the opposite.
