Letting Go Of The Past: Kung Fu Panda 2's Messege About Inner Peace

HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD If you have not seen the movie, this spoils the essence of it, and one of the best scenes I have ever seen in an animated movie, go watch it, rent it, buy it used, however, and come back here after, please. If you have seen the film or do not care let's proceed, but I had to put a warning out there.  When we first meet Po in this series we see someone who has proved himself, but there is something eating at him, he doesn't know who he is or where he came from. As the film progresses we find his home was taken from him, and his family when he was barely old enough to remember by the villain of the movie Lord Shen, who feared a panda who would rise up and stop him. The moment of losing his home and family, haunted him as a lingering nightmare, ringing in his ears as faint images of that fateful day flash before him, rendering him motionless.  When the movie hits its climax both emotionally and in terms of narrative is when all hope seems lost, Po is heavily

Why Kung Fu Panda 2 Is My Faveorite So Far

Earlier this year cinemas once again saw the adventures of Po the Panda, the dragon warrior voiced by Jack Black, included with an amazing cover of "Hit Me Baby One More Time" performed by him and his band. But I wanted to talk about my personal favorite, I have not seen the 4th installment yet but with it recently arriving on Peacock and probably soon to store shelves, why not look back at the one that made me love this series. When this year started I had not seen a single movie in this or the How To Train Your Dragon series, I am now three in for Kung Fu Panda and have begun my journey with Hiccup and Toothless in the first installment, I have been getting around to the Dreamworks films I once passed by. This film sequel which debuted over ten years ago, still has the heart, comedy, and great action, in my opinion building off of an incredibly well-made first installment. This film takes Po and the furious five out of the valley to deal with the maniacal Lord Shen played

Is Dreamworks The Bad Guys Actually Good?

At the time of this blog post, Kung Fu Panda 4 is on the horizon, and even though I thought about talking about "Puss In Boots The Last Wish" and how much I adore that movie, I decided to talk about the other Dreamworks film released in 2022, since I would rather go to that year then cover Trolls 3 or Ruby Gilman from last year, perhaps someday but not today. This movie has some positive reception to its name and also the characters appear in the new Dreamworks studio logo opening that premiered with Puss In Boots The Last Wish, featuring Shrek, Po from Kung Fu Panda, and many more, some beloved, some not much, (especially the boss baby).   In the Spring of 2022, Dreamworks released a movie about the big bad wolf or Wolf as he is called, Snake, Shark, Piranha, and Tarantula named just after the animals they are, as they steal and heist. But Wolf is starting to wonder if maybe being bad isn't all it is cracked up to be, and if he could, in fact, be good, once they are all

Stronger Than Ever Before (Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure)

Sometimes music can inspire us, or lift our mood when needed. Sometimes we just need an upbeat song to improve our moods, and this song fits the bill perfectly. This song from the season three premiere episode of Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure is a great way to put a pep in your step, it has for me. This blog is now a stranger to covering the fantastic music from this series and will continue to talk about this great show in many ways. This song is at the tail end of a two-part season premiere, which already had a great song or two in it, being the cherry on top of a great beginning.  This song has confidence in standing together, making tomorrow better, being strong even if we make mistakes but not letting them define us, and looking forward to the future. This song speaks volumes about moving forward with a bright outlook, not letting the challenges scare us but rather soaring above them as we go from endeavor to endeavor.  The lyrics popping and brimming with confidence and positi

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Is Fantastic

Spoilers ahead! If you are interested in this show at all or are a fan or the movie and want to see it, then read this post after watching. Spoiler warning! When I first saw the advertising for this series, I was excited, I love Scott Pilgrim vs. The World as a movie, flaws and all, and enjoy the video game too. I have never read the comic, but I have glanced over the first issue and the comic is just the movie and the game's plot. Seeing an animated series telling made me wonder how they would expand or if the series would just be another retelling of a story I really enjoyed but differently, then the first episode ended.. and Scott Pilgrim died. Losing to Matthew Pattel of all people, my jaw hit the floor. The series took a whole new direction, now focusing on all of the characters that are not Scott Pilgrim in a series that bears his name as the title character. That twist had me hooked on this show and kept me hooked until the last episode wrapped up, eight in total.   The show

It's Over Isn't It? (Steven Universe)

One of the most powerful ballads about lost love for me came from Steven Universe. This show found ways to keep on giving and resonating with people in so many ways, but the episode "Mr. Greg" might be my all-time favorite. The musical episode involving Greg, Steven, and Pearl going on a trip to the big city hits its emotional focal point in this song. Many people know it, but if not I highly recommend watching the song through the show on YouTube for your first listen. The visuals and music, all tied together with a gorgeous color palette tie together to make a song that is a gift from start to finish, and here is why I say that.   The night sky is a pretty shade of purple, as Pearl steps alone out onto the balcony of the hotel. Looking into the night sky. the lights of the city and the stars, illuminating the beautiful night sky. Holding a rose, she begins to lament her relationship with Steven's mother who shares the name with the flower she holds, her resentment for G

Tell Your Own Story, Do Your Own Thing: One Thing I Learned From Across The Spiderverse

This will probably not be the last time I talk about the impact of this film, I keep learning from this incredible film. The visuals, humor, story, characters, and messages of the film are just so close to perfect for me. Let's hang on to that last word, messages. Some may feel that an animated film could never contain deeper meanings or ideas. Still, if they looked outside their opinion, they would see animation as what it truly is, a necessary part of cinema. Animation can go places and bring ideas live action never could, and vice versa, they are both important. When this movie was first released, I saw it on opening day, and I was that excited. I love and adore the first film and the sequel just as much, it did not disappoint. I wanted to revisit the second film, since we have had more time with the first movie, and dive into some of the story beats, so spoilers are ahead just as a fair warning.  Across The Spiderverse takes our hero Miles Morales a year and some change ahead
