My Thoughts On Katrielle's Mystery Journey: Katrielle And The Millionaire's Conspiracy DX(Switch)

The Professor Layton series is very near and dear to my heart, and when they announced a sequel series I was interested. Alas I never got the 3DS original but did get the port with even more content and puzzles that came to the Nintendo Switch. So how does this game stack up against the series that shares it's last name?  At the point of this post, I would say I am a little over the halfway point of the game. So instead of a full-on review, I figured I would give my thoughts now for the conclusion of puzzle month, and then give my extended thoughts at a later date. I have played the game about eight hours and that is with exploring and trying out some of the bonus features, so I have seen quite a bit of this game. This game is a fantastic follow up. The plot is told episodically through cases that are fun and entertaining. As you follow Katrielle Layton, her assistant Ernest, and talking dog Sherlock. Yes, talking dog. There are plot threads that go through the entire game, but th

Donut County (PS4)

When I was going through my backlog, I found a game that was so charming that I got on sale that was also a puzzle game. So, I thought I would add a bonus post before we wrap up on puzzle game month. When you hear this game's title what do you think? A bakery full of delicious treats, making donuts, or being a racoon controlling holes in the ground and swallowing up everything? Well, if you guessed the final option then you would be correct, let's dive in. As just mentioned, the plot of this game is wild, and one that is worth going through. This game is about friendship, comedy, and what a donut really is. This game has a fun and comedic plot, and the writing is fantastic. The game does not overstay it's welcome and is about two hours long, but it is a fun time from start to finish. The writing, characters, world, and plot are memorable. The music and graphics are also great, making a fun world to spend some time in.  The gameplay involves doing one thing, using a hole in

Puzzle Bobble 3D Vacation Odessey (PS4)

As puzzle month continues I look outside and see the falling snow and dream of somewhere warmer. As much as I love the snow, I hate being cold, and I wish there was a place where I could play some fun music, solve some puzzles, and relax. Well, that could be the possibility with the next game I am covering for this month Puzzle Bobble 3D Vacation Odessey. The two leads of the arcade classic Bubble Bobble, when that game is not getting a sequel or put in collections have starred in a puzzle game series. Named both Bust A Move and Puzzle Bobble, the puzzle-based spin off starring the protagonists of Bubble Bobble, this game joins the recent releases and remakes the series has gotten of late. For those unfamiliar the Puzzle Bobble series has you aiming orbs of various colors at a stack of orbs that is approaching from the top of the screen to the bottom. Match three of the same color, hit a power up or connect and make a chain to get rid of orbs and clear the stage, keep going in an infi

Tetris DS And The Tetris BOP IT!

If you look at a console there is a decent chance there is a Tetris game on there, and in most cases several, but one that so many people seem to talk about is Tetris DS, which as just mentioned is on a system, the houses one or two more Tetris titles, and if you play it on a 3DS then there are even more options in the popular block dropping, line clearing series. So, I found a copy of this game for twenty dollars, as well as a Tetris themed BOP IT and figured I would cover both! Let's see if this is a version of the beloved puzzle series worth seeking out, while also trying to get a high score more than five, my hand eye coordination is not the best when it has to be speedy. Let's start with the BOP IT/ It has LED lights and plays like a run of the mill version of this game except you match the lights to the game as well, on a smaller grid. There is even a mode where you can turn the sound down or off, and play just LED Tetris, a fun a nifty novelty. I found it for four dolla

Jackbox Party Pack 8 (Bonus)

Recently I made a list of great games to play with friends, focusing on games that work well online over long distances. One of those games I highlighted was the Jackbox Party Pack series, a collection of different minigames that can be played with friends and only one copy needs to be owned, with every player needing just a web browser or their phone. From making jokes, to drawing, to trivia, there are so many fun different minigames spanning across the different packs and I am sure you will be able to find your favorites among all the options out there, and they are super fun with friends. Recently the latest pack with a whole new collection of games came out and I played some with some friends online. So I am going to talk about each game and then the party pack as a whole! So here is a fun bonus, and let's see if this pack brings the party if I am better off with the other game packs.  Drawful Animate Most drawful games, involve drawing a picture for a prompt and trying to get

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon

Image
Image Source: Steam I have loved Shovel Knight since I first met him, back when there were no additional campaigns, no Amiibo, and the game was one of my favorites on my 3DS. Since then, I got the game on my switch with the "Shovel Knight Treasure Trove" edition and loved every second of it. The platforming, music, characters, world, gameplay and everything for me was near perfect and is set of games I love playing from time to time. When this game was announced, I was excited, I love puzzle games and this series, so I bought it day one. So, to kick off puzzle game month this month, let's look at this game and see if it was worth all that initial hype. This game really took me by surprise, after the game dropped me in and played the initial cutscene, I was taught how to play, and I was not expecting a puzzle game mixed with a rouge like, with tons of gameplay options to mix and match to fit your style. The screen floods with enimies, as well as health potions, items in c
