8 Songs I Love About Facing Your Fears

Halloween often focuses on fear. From haunted houses to scary movies, it is meant to scare some, while also giving candy to many, thus the phrase, trick or treat. We ask for either a scare or a prank, but preferably candy as we go door to door in our colorful costumes. But fear is a powerful emotion, a real emotion we all feel at one point or another. Whether we fear heights and rollercoasters, or something deeper like rejection and failure. Fear can often be stinky and we can feel more like a terrible trick, but with help from our friends and family, we can overcome it. Sometimes music helps me face my fears so today I am going to share some of my favorite songs about facing your fears or seizing the day. Grab your flashlights, and some spare candy from the bowl, and put some headphones in, it's time to turn on the lights and show our fears who's in charge. These songs are from animated shows, musicals, or just in general, these are songs that have helped me and might even hel

Self Love (Spider Man Across The Spiderverse)

I have analyzed so many songs from musicals and shows, but now it's time to go through a song from a movie. And why not go through my favorite film so far to be released in 2023. Spider-Man Across The Spiderverse is one of those films that I will have to dive into, as well as the film that preceded it. Both of them are two of my favorite films of all time and I will have to discuss, the story, the music, plots, and styles of them both in great detail at a later date. For my first foray into the Spidererse, I thought I would discuss a song that I have continued listening to since I looked it up after first hearing it in the film. The song is called Self Love, and I want to dive into it fully, so there are some light spoilers for the movie, but that is because it ties into the fabric of the song itself.  The song desribes a girl who is far from home, not being trusted, needing to learn to love herself and find different friends perhaps. Not being trusted even to the point of being be

The Music Of The Mario Movie

Ever had a movie's score moved you to tears? It could be combined with an emotional or powerful moment, or even an inspirational one. A movie's score can help the movie stand out, make good scenes great, and stick in your mind. The music of a movie can stand alongside the set, the costumes, and the characters to make moments into memories that we cherish. Making a scene something we watch repeatedly, or sometimes when listened to, you can close your eyes and picture the moments that happened. There is no score in a movie this year that has stuck with me more than that of The Super Mario Brothers Movie. So today I am not talking about plot, or visuals, I am breaking it down to just the music.  This score was MADE for Mario fans, but you probably already knew that. This score is universally praised, often being said by many as the best part of the movie. Even those who did not see the film know the music was done perfectly and is still being talked about. Talked about to such an

I Saw The Funny Girl Revival On Tour

Image Source: Braodway.Com Ever go and see a show based on hearing one song and knowing nothing else? Well very recently I did, I saw the touring cast of the Funny Girl revival and decided to share my thoughts today. The last show I saw was in January, and the wait between that and the tail end of September was definitely a long one, but this show made it worth it. I love theater of all kinds, whether it is live, taped, community, Broadway tours, and more, it is my true favorite form of music, I love musicals of all kinds. This was a show that I only knew of through the song "Don't Rain On My Parade", After seeing the show fairly recently, I gave myself some time to think about it and listen to the cast album a couple times for the songs to sit in, and now it is time to share.  After seeing the show, I really enjoyed it. I thought it was funny, full of good one-liners and some good physical comedy as well, with some really good music. There was lots of great choreography

I'd Rather Be Me (Mean Girls The Musical)

Sometimes not every song in a musical needs to hit with you, but just the right ones do. This is one of those songs, and today I am diving into the song "I'd Rather Be Me" from the musical adaptation of the film Mean Girls.  Musicals based on movies have been abundant on this blog, and the train is not stopping any time soon. This empowerment song which comes late in the album and thus in the show is my favorite number in this show. I have not seen this show live, yet but I have listened to the album and the songs on multiple occasions, so lets dive in.  This song comes in the later half of ACT 2, and close to the end of the cast album, as Janis stands up at the school assembly and proclaims what she should of a long time ago. Recounting how she has been hurt, how she is going to live, and wishes others to do so. Wanting everyone to call each other out, stop being fake and playing games, and be themselves. Declaring if she has to eat or be alone, that's fine as she&#
