New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe

Image
(Image Source: Ebay.com) When many expected Super Mario 3D World to be ported to switch we were given New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe first, and even though we now have both on the Switch, I decided to give the first of the two HD ports a look first. The Wii U launch title that has Super Mario Bros and Super Luigi U in one bundle, but is there a enough to warrant the sixty dollar price tag? Let's take a look. The game includes New Super Mario Bros U our main quest, New Super Luigi U, a ton of challenge modes from speed runs and coin collection, all starring  five playable characters, Mario, Luigi, Two Toads, Toadette who I will cover later, and Nabbit who can take no damage at all. You can take on the main story which is classic Mario fare of saving the princess or do a ton of challenges. This game does have a good amount of content, especially if you did not play the original or Super Luigi U on the Wii U which were sold separately. There is a ton of gameplay with a nice variety of

Old School Remake : TMNT 4 Turtles In Time

So a fun idea I had was to talk about a few games that are retro now but were kind of like remakes back in the day, today's game is the classic beat em up TMNT 4 Turtles In Time. A classic beat em up based on a classic cartoon franchise that was an updated port of an arcade game. Thus being a remake when it ported to the Super Nintendo as well as the Genesis though on that console it was named Hyper Stone Heist. Both versions having new stages and different graphics as well boss fights thus being remakes for their time. Carrying over the gameplay that made the arcade version a fan favorite but adding something new, the fundamentals that carries into plenty of remakes, HD ports, and remasters today. So let's talk about the game.  I fired up my Super Nintendo and played this game recently, and it still holds up incredibly well, Turtles In Time is still a fantastic side scrolling beat em up that is full of amazing levels, charm, and fantastic music. The music is so high energy th

Bonus Post: Fall Guys Season 5

I have not played much Fall Guys  since season 4 dropped, where I played it for a week or two among other games and then just dropped it. So much so that Season 5 snuck up and me, so why not take a break from this months theme and give this a look. With a new season means we are getting more minigames and new theme in the rotation which is great to not only add a new theme with new fun rules but give a rest to the games we have had for a while, or mixing all the games so far together for people like me who have not played for a couple of months. Last time there was a futuristic theme alongside new games, squad shows, and new rewards, this time there are also duo shows and a new jungle theme, so let's try and win a crown or two and dive in! So the new games are all jungle themed, and they are some great additions. Much like the past couple seasons the games are really standing out with new ideas like collecting a set amount of medals that are in bubbles, bouncing around of lily pad

Alex Kidd In Miracle World DX

Image
(Image Source: TheGamingOutsider.Com) The series that proceeded Sonic is back, SEGA's first attempt at a mascot who fell to the wayside long ago is back with a remaster of the first game in the series, Alex Kid In Miracle World DX. I got the collector's edition because it looked fun but the game retails for 39.99 and to download it costs 19.99 and can be found on modern systems and PC. Is this a trip down memory lane worth taking? Let's fire up the PS4 because that is the version I played and find out.  This game tasks you with playing as Alex Kidd, the chosen hero who must save his kingdom from evil invaders and enemies galore. The story is simple but this is retro game so I was not signing up narrative driven adventure, just old school platforming goodness. In terms of presentation this game is fantastic, the game has remastered music, and an amazing art style, the graphics are fantastic. The animations and graphics are incredible, this game looks and sounds great. The g

Ducktales Remastered

(Image Source: Ebay.com)                                                                             System I Played On: WII U As I transition from licensed games to remakes and remasters for this month I decided to talk about one of my favorites. The best way to find this game easily without using a past gen console is Steam which I do have it on but I was playing the Wii U recently and decided to fire this game up, and it holds up super well. Capcom's amazing Mega Man style game was completely overhauled by the amazing team over at Wayforward and it shows. The music and presentation are top notch, many of the original cast including Scrooge's original voice actor Alan Young reprise their roles for am epic retelling of this classic game. A ton of fully voiced cutscenes were added and they all are so well animated and performed. Every cutscene feels like a lost episode of the classic show, and the animations in game are remarkable, whether Scrooge or an enemy, there is so much

Theme July 12 To August : Retro, Remakes and Remasters

To remake or to remaster a game, or just to port it? That is the question and I am going to answer it as we look at sever remakes, remasters, and compilations if older games for the month of July and early August. The new theme this blog is covering is Remake and Remasters month!

Cartoon Network Battle Crashers

Image
(Image Source: GoNintnedo.Com)                                                    System I Played On: Switch What if some of Cartoon Networks biggest modern shows crossed over into a video game, which happened to be a side scrolling beat em up. Not only that but it was multiplayer, with up to four friends could join you on this quest and it was on a ton of consoles both current and last gen. Is this game such a masterpiece that it deserves to be ported to so many systems, or is it at least worth the two dollars and forty nine cents I payed for it? Let's fire up my Nintendo Switch and find out. The plot of this game unfolds when Uncle Grandpa's Van tears a hole in reality, merging the worlds of his show, Steven Universe, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Clarence and The Adventures Of Gumball. You take control of each of the leads of the shows mentioned in a side scrolling beat em up through two stages and a boss fight from each locale of the shows mentioned. There are two cutscene

Top 5 Licensed Games I Want To See

Licensed games can sometimes surprise us, whether it be a game that truly embodies what it is adapting, or just using the characters and environment to make something new and original. So many great shows and movies surprise us and some transition to videogames very well. So here are five shows or remasters of licensed games that I think would make awesome in no particular order. Thank you for reading, and what are some licensed games whether new or remasterd you want to see? Disney Capcom Collection The Disney Afternoon Collection is an awesome time and I think that Capcom has even more Disney games to put on modern consoles. Such as Mickeys Magical Quest and Goof Troop, put them all into a collection and I will definitely pick that up.  Ducktales Reboot The Game Ducktales Remastered is beloved, but what about a new game in the style of the classic NES game but starring the reboot cast and a new storyline. A 2D platformer with amazing hand drawn animation just like Ducktales Remaster

Tiny Toons Adventures Buster's Hidden Treasure

Image
(Image Source: Amazon.Com)   Licensed games are a mixed bag as a whole, sometimes you get a truly great experiences or what seems to be a majority of the time you are left with a terrible game that was thrown together to make a quick buck. It was the same back then as it is now, the classic games era was no stranger to bad games based on licensed properties but just like now there seems to be a few hidden gems worth mentioning. And one of those gems that I only recently discovered was Tiny Toon Adventures Buster's Hidden Treasure for the Sega Genesis. I grew up playing Buster Busts Loose on Super Nintendo, and I remember that game fondly, but this one made by the same developer Konami is an entirely different game. This game I have never played before until now, so let's boot up the SEGA Genesis and see if this treasure is worth keeping or was better left being buried. In terms of presentation the graphics and music are really good for the time. The sprites are well animated, a

LEGO Games

To kick off a month covering all sorts of games tied to licensed properties I decided to start with the combination of two licenses, which led to a ton of games and is still going strong. Today I wanted to cover the LEGO series of games, because even though the titles change, a ton of gameplay elements are carried over from each game, each game has a couple of mechanics to call their own but the core gameplay, unlockable, and collectibles carry over. Whether as Batman, Marvel Heroes, Star Wars, or even The Incredibles, the LEGO games have you tackling either an original story or a adaption of the film, this series that has been with us since the GameCube shows no signs of stopping. The games have you going through the plot, and a hub world, breaking things, getting studs which are money to use to unlock more characters, as well as other minikilts and cheat codes to unlock more fun goodies to get to 100 percent.  Using a wide cast of characters each game has elements to set themselves

Why Indie Games Are Amazing (Invest In Indies Finale)

this theme for the past month has been so much fun, whether it was playing something new, in my backlog, or revisiting a favorite, this past month reminded me why I love indie games. So much so that I am sure some of them will be appearing as bonus content throughout July, some I am even working on now. But for now I wanted to talk about why indie games are some of my favorites. Indies games have such an endless well of exciting opportunities when you think about it. They can cover a genre or make an homage to a series that doesn't see as many titles as it used to. Indie games also go on sale often so these titles can prove a little easier on the wallet. From 2D retro style platformers to puzzle games to VR indie games cover so many genres so there is something for everyone. I will cover more as I go despite the theme of the month because I love them that much, I love talking to people about them. Whether it lasts 3 hours or 30, I love these small studios are bringing such great e

Mighty Switch Force Collection

Image
(Image Source: RapidReviewuk.com)                                                        (System I Played On PS4) After covering some puzzle games, or games with puzzle elements I wanted to cover one that I find myself going back to again and again. Mighty Switch Force is a series made by Wayforward that combines, platforming, blasting, and puzzle solving into a great experience. And on most modern platforms this game that debuted on the 3DS as well as its sequel, a HD revamp of the first game, a new mode are all bundled together in the Mighty Switch Force collection, four games all in one place, let's dive in. The Mighty Switch Force series see you in control of Patricia Wagon as you run, jump, blast, and move blocks to save the day. The main focus of these games is using an ability to move blocks from the foreground into the background, as well as active certain blocks lie locked ones or ones to propel you with the same ability. You must navigate stages to either arrest the esca
